The Program Officer Volunteer will support to advocate for Reformed discriminatory laws, policies and harmful practices against women, children and PWDs and enhance program implementation through Quality, Effectiveness and Timeliness

 

Title: Program Officer, Gender Women, Children and PWDs

Nature of contract: Volunteer

Duty station: Dar es Salaam

Closing date for application: 29th February 2024

Expected start date: 11th March 2024

 

Responsibility:

  • Support the implementation of LHRC Programs on Gender, Women, Girls, Children and Persons with Disabilities
  • Support implementation of a project on strengthening the capacity of LHRC on SRHR and advancing access to reproductive equity.
  • Support implementation of the Project on protecting adolescent girls’ sexual and reproductive health and rights in Tanzania; implementing the ACERWC decision on school re-entry.
  • Coordinate the Anti FGM Coalition through organizing meetings and other related activities.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the organizations related to the unit.
  • Attend TV and Radion programs on behalf of the unit.
  • Learn issues related to Gender , women, children and PWDs in order to be updated concerning the work to be conducted.
  • Conduct awareness session with the public on rights of women, children and PWDs.
  • Support Legal and Human Rights Center in Gender mainstreaming processes.
  • Work mainly on Gender Based Violence and provide legal aid to Gender based and child abuse clients.
  • Conduct legal analysis on laws and policies protecting women, children and PWDs.
  • Monitor the Gender based violence through media and the conduct of the Government on gender women and children -related issues.
  • Ensure program is implemented towards achieving desired outputs.
  • Ensure timely execution of activities and other program related duties.
  • Ensure timely preparation of all programs reports.
  • Contributes towards achieving LHRC vision.
  • Any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • University degree in the social sciences (i.e. sociology, psychology, political science, or social policy), gender, public administration and or other development related sciences.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Additional training and certification in programme/project management would be an advantage.

 

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of progressive working experience in the design, management, and implementation of programmes preferable related to protecting and promoting women’s, children’s, and persons with disabilities human rights.
  • At least three (1) years of experience in implementing and/or supporting implementation of various programmes, projects, initiatives, and activities aimed at advancing gender equality and women’s rights.
  • Experience of working with governmental and non-governmental institutions at the national and local levels.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Office, Outlook, etc.).
