Legal and Human Rights Centre(LHRC) signs MoU with Tanzania Police Force

On 28th November 2022 the Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tanzania Police Force (TANPOL) with the aim of forging a partnership for promoting and protecting the rule of law, order, and human rights for the main purpose of safeguarding the safety and security of people and properties in the country.

The MoU was signed by the Tanzania's Inspector General of Police (IGP), Camillus M. Wambura and The Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) Executive Director, Adv. Anna Henga at the Ministry of Home Affairs Sub police - Headquarters in Dar es Salaam.

LHRC and TANPOL have agreed to collaborate in the following; capacity-building sessions, information sharing, publications, research, public awareness, training on various issues, Police Reform Programs, media campaigns and programs on rule of law and human rights, organizing relevant international and national campaign/events on human rights and making follow-ups of the progress of reported incidences of law and human rights violations.

LHRC’s programs of support are complimentary to international and national development strategies and plans. LHRC has been working with the TANPOL as one of its key governance stakeholders, this MoU further strengthens the engagement between the two institutions.
