LHRC and Embassy of Sweden collaborate to empower youth and Human Rights Clubs.

On 13th June 2023, the Legal and Human  Rights Centre (LHRC) in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in Tanzania, visited SAUT Human Rights Club at the St. Augustine University of Tanzania in Mwanza, with the purpose of observing and hearing how the Club has positively impacted human rights knowledge to its' members towards promotion and protection of human rights in SAUT and the Mwanza community at large.


During this visit, the students who are members of the SAUT Human Rights Club had the privilege to narrate their different advocacy and empowerment activities before the Ambassador of Sweden in Tanzania, H.E Charlotta-Ozaki Maciaz. Among the mentioned ongoing initiatives being carried out by the club includes; preparing and presenting radio programs for the provision of human rights education and awareness through SAUT FM, conducting fact-finding missions, and provision of legal aid services with support from various university legal personnel. 

Moreover, LHRC and Sweden Embassy have visited the studios of SAUT FM (SAUT Radio) and had a chance to learn more about radio programs carried out by SAUT FM, programs production, and radio operations.

Furthermore, the Embassy has insisted to continue supporting LHRC in improving human rights knowledge among the youth through the implementation of the Human Rights Clubs Program.
