Irish Rule of Law International paid a courtesy visit to LHRC
On 5th September 2023, Sean McHale, Director of Progammes, from Irish Rule of Law International paid a courtesy visit to the LHRC Legal Aid Clinic at Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam. During the visit, he had the opportunity to learn about the challenges in the Family Unit at the Clinic, specifically from January to June 2023.
This partnership meeting was led by Advocate Fulgence Massawe, the Director of Advocacy and Reforms at LHRC, The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the partnership between Irish Rule of Law International and LHRC and to gain insights into the challenges faced by the Legal Aid Clinic. Sean McHale had the opportunity to visit different units at the LHRC Legal Aid Clinic, with a particular focus on the Family Unit.
During the visit, it was revealed that from January to June 2023, a total of 4,623 people sought assistance at the Clinic on various issues, out of the 4,623 people seeking assistance, 38 percent were females, highlighting the importance of addressing gender-specific legal challenges also the main issues that people sought assistance for in the Family Unit included inheritance issues, divorce issues, and matters related to children's welfare.
