We Advocate for Human Rights

LHRC was established in 1995 as a non-governmental, voluntary, non-partisan and not-for-profit sharing organization, with the purpose of working to empower and conscientize the people of Tanzania on legal and human rights.

LHRC envisions “a Just and Equitable Society”
We are on a Mission to empower the public and promote, reinforce and safeguard human rights and goodgovernance in Tanzania.

Nothing inspires us more than our broad objective

“We just want to create legal and human rights awareness among the public and in particular the underprivileged section of society through legal and civic education, advocacy linked with legal aid provision, research and human rights monitoring.”

We uphold ethical principles and strong moral uprightness which means doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

LHRC is accessible and openly accountable, positioning herself where people know LHRC’s responsibilities, and are able to ask for explanations, and give feedback on their experience of the LHRC
