On December 10th, 2020, LHRC joined the global community to mark the International Human Rights Day. Representatives of the diplomatic missions in Tanzania were among participants in the event held in Dar es Salaam and officiated by Honourable Joseph Sinde Warioba, the former Prime Minister. LHRC’s development partner including Sweden, Norway, Ireland and Switzerland delivered a joint speech which was read by H.E Adrian Fitzgerald, Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of Ireland.
The speech, among other things, highlights human rights concerns in Tanzania particularly issues of human rights violation and irregularities that transpired during the October polls. The speech urges the government and all stakeholders to reflect and shed light on the human rights situation in the country.
