The newly appointed chairperson of the Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance (CHRAGG), Judge Mathew Mwaimu said today that the commission will enhance working relations with LHRC with a view of improving the situation of human rights in Tanzania. 

Speaking at the LHRC office in Dodoma, Judge Mwaimu said he commends the work that LHRC is doing in promoting a culture of justice and human rights.
“Your (LHRC) work is significant in promoting principles of human rights and good governance in Tanzania”, he said. 

The chairperson insisted on the importance of collaboration between the commission and LHRC.
“The commission is willing to collaborate with you (LHRC) to enhance the protection and promotion of human rights in the country. Our (CHRAGG) doors are open for you and we will be knocking at yours (LHRC’s)”, he added.

On her part, the Executive Director of LHRC, Anna Henga welcomed the call by CHRAGG chair. Also, Henga made a call to CHRAGG to intervene in addressing human rights violations including the mounting threats against human rights activists.

The delegation from the Commission for Human Right and Good Governance led by its chair visited LHRC office in Dodoma on February 28, 2020.
