LAUNCHING OF THE TANZANIA HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT 2020

LHRC has completed preparation of the Tanzania Human Rights Report 2020, which is scheduled for launch on 9^th April 2021. The report touches on key human rights issues for the Year 2020, covering the Tanzania Mainland and specific issues which are also relevant to Zanzibar. The report highlights the situation of civil and political rights; economic, social, and cultural rights; collective rights; and rights of vulnerable groups. For the very first time, the report also includes a chapter on the status of implementation of recommendations provided in the previous human rights reports produced by LHRC.

This year’s report is the 19^th report since LHRC started producing such reports in 2002. The report is titled “Human Rights Protection and the Threat Posed by Covid19 in Tanzania,” given the impact Covid19 has had on human rights in different parts of the world, including Tanzania. The report therefore also highlights how the pandemic affected realization of the rights belonging to different generations and categories of human rights discussed.
