LAUNCH OF THE TANZANIA HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT 2021.
On 11th April 2022, LHRC launched its 20th human rights report, Tanzania Human Rights Report 2021. The report highlights the situation of human rights in Tanzania for the year 2021, covering both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. Criminal justice took centre stage in 2021, hence the report theme “Calls for Reform of Criminal Justice System to Safeguard Human Rights.” The report covers all three generations of human rights, namely: civil and political rights; economic, social, and cultural rights; and collective rights. Apart from criminal justice, other key human rights issues covered in the report include: violence against women and children; human trafficking; intimate partner violence; sexual and reproductive health and rights; access to justice; and property and inheritance rights. Calls, key messages, and recommendations are also made and provided to improve human rights in Tanzania.
