The Royal Norwegian Embassy has in June 23rd, 2016 committed to support the Legal and Human Rights Centre with up to NOK 17 million over its three years Operational Plan (2016 – 2018). Norwegian Embassy has been supporting the LHRC since 2004. The motive behind this support is geared by the Nation's desire to promote human rights globally.
While speaking before members of the LHRC staff and members of the press at the LHRC’s headquarter, her Excellence Norwegian Ambassador, Hanne-Marie Kaarstad appreciated the efforts by the LHRC in monitoring and reporting human rights situation in the country alongside other activities such as : provision of legal aid, civic, legal and human rights education and advocacy for improved laws, policies and practices.
The Ambassador highly praised the LHRC by amalgamating its outstanding performance with the credits given by the Norwegian based Christian Michelsen’s Institute which in its Mid – Term Review on the outgoing Operational Plan 2013 - 2015, in 2015 reported that “the LHRC continued to be an efficient performer in human rights work in Tanzania”. She also appreciated the LHRC’s annually produced Tanzania Human Rights Report which she said it has become a crucial source of human rights information in the country and the LHRC’s flagship. The Ambassador admitted the LHRC’s efficiency to be the factor for the Embassy to further the grant agreement.
The Executive Director for the LHRC thanked the Royal Norwegian Embassy for agreeing to continue its commitment to the LHRC and promised to continue to champion human rights and good governance in the country.

The LHRC's Director of Finance and Administration Mr. Ezekiel Masanja (standing right) assured the Norwegian Embassy that the LHRC will double its efforts towards achieving just and equitable society despite the challenges.
